The new idea for modification of the surface area of silicate glass

Abstract: The paper presents a new and original method of modifying the surface layer of silicate glass by applying a coating produced from zirconium oxide–yttria-stabilized powder using the LPPS plasma method (low-pressure plasma spraying). This is a new approach and not found in both scientific literature and known technological solutions. The results of the work indicate that it is possible to produce the coatings of yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide (YSZ) on the glass substrate. These coatings were made using the L… Show more

“…Most experimental conditions were for coatings at a high-temperature state for non-corrosive media [3]. However, TBCs also gradually fail due to erosion and calcium-magnesium-aluminosilicate (CMAS) attack following long-term exposure to harsh environments [4][5][6]. In reality, the CMAS on the surface of TBCs is usually composed of sand, ash and dust, and melts at temperatures of more than 1200°C.…”

“…The Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) coatings are widely used in different applications for increasing of wear or thermal resistance of base materials. In aerospace industry it is used as a thermal insulator in thermal barrier coating (TBC) [1,2,3]. In last year this type of ceramic was applied in biomedical applications such as dental implants [4].…”
