ResumenLa disponibilidad de técnicas que permiten el análisis de gran cantidad de datos, entrega la posibilidad de realizar estudios que permiten caracterizar el desarrollo y la evolución de la ciencia psicológica a través de parámetros objetivos, entregando perfiles de las principales tendencias. Se presenta un enfoque hibrido basado en análisis cientométrico y una interpretación de comunidades bibliográficas basadas en la proporción de referencias compartidas (Grawin, 2012) de artículos iberoamericanos en la base de datos Web of Knowledge. Los resultados arrojan una concentración de la investigación en Depresión (9%) y DemenciaAlzheimer (8%), así como una fuerte orientación cuantitativa a través de la validación y uso de instrumentos psicométricos. Mientras España produce 54% de la ciencia y lidera 44% de la producción más influyente (citada), Latinoamérica produce 37% y lidera 13% (Brasil 10%, Chile 1%, Argentina 1%, Colombia 1%). Se discuten las implicancias de estos resultados, así como las consecuencias y futuras aplicaciones de estas herramientas para practicantes e investigadores. In this article we present a hybrid approach, based on a scientometric analysis and an interpretation of bibliographic communities based on the proportion of shared references (Grawin, 2012) of iberoamerican articles within the Web of Knowledge database. The results show a strong concentration of research on Depression (9%) and Alzheimer (8%), as a heavy use of quantitative and psychometric approaches. Attention to fidelity to the treatment model is central to cognitive-behavior model implementation, but super vision is comprised of components beyond fidelity and should become clearer with greater attention to effective supervision.…”

Clinical supervision is a distinct professional competency and has been acknowledged consensually as such for over a decade. In addition, psychology has entered a competency and implementation science era. However, multiple aspects of investigation of clinical supervision including efficacy and specific outcomes have been long in coming. This issue on supervision outcomes was initiated to address innovative practices in assessing supervision process as well as supervisee and client outcomes. However, during the process of organizing the issue, it became increasingly clear that there are multiple steps that precede outcome assessment, that outcome assessment is also an important tool in the process of supervision, and that the entire process of supervision is acutely in need of understanding and developing empirical support for its components and impacts. Attention is required to address both input regarding clinical supervision training and the outcomes of supervision on supervisee competence and client status. Comprehensive evaluation of outcomes is long overdue and requires immediate attention. This issue serves as a platform for further exploration by describing strategies and frameworks to construct scaffolding to study the process of supervision and both supervisee and client outcomes. Such inquiry should serve to enhance the valence of clinical supervision and impress the imperative of systematic supervision training on accreditation organizations, graduate schools, and regulatory bodies.
