The Murine Reg3a Stimulated by Lactobacillus casei Promotes Intestinal Cell Proliferation and Inhibits the Multiplication of Porcine Diarrhea Causative Agent in vitro

Abstract: Lactobacillus casei (L. casei), a normal resident of the gastrointestinal tract of mammals, has been extensively studied over the past few decades for its probiotic properties in clinical and animal models. Some studies have shown that some bacterium of Lactobacillus stimulate the production of antimicrobial peptides in intestinal cells to clear enteric pathogens, however, which antimicrobial peptides are produced by L. casei stimulation and its function are still not completely understood. In this study, we i… Show more

“…In summary, the altered intestinal microbiota abundance of HNa administration may be related to its inhibition effects on pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli. Moreover, it was reported that changes in intestinal microbiota are closely associated with intestinal barrier function (Bai et al, 2021). Thus, we speculate that HNa may alleviate intestinal dysfunction induced by ETEC K88 through maintaining intestinal homeostasis and increasing the abundance of intestinal beneficial bacteria.…”

“…Reg3a levels increased to day 3 in the SP group. In porcine diarrheal infection with Lactobacillus casei , murine Reg3a promotes intestinal cell proliferation and reduces the bacterial load [ 63 ], thus indicating the possibility that Reg3a also plays a role in intestinal host immunity in ETEC infection. In addition, Gazi et al .…”

“…The extraction of cell total RNA refers to the Experimental methods of Yongfei Bai et al 14 and the quality of the RNA was assessed by an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer and agarose gel electrophoresis without RNA enzyme. Illumina HiSeqTM 4000 platform was used for PCR amplification and sequencing by Guangzhou Genedenovo Biotechnology Co., Ltd (Guangzhou, China).…”
