The multiple objective optimization of high-speed rotor supported by magnetic bearing in BLDCM

Abstract: In order to find an algorithm to get a better optimization result of high-speed rotor supported by magnetic bearing in BLDCM, we presented a multiple objective optimization results which included three algorithms' in this paper. They are the local Sequential Quadratic Program (SQP) algorithm, the global Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the combined optimization strategy algorithm which combines GA and SQP. The parametric optimization model of a 100 kW BLDCM supported by magnetic bearings was constituted with softwar… Show more

“…Benefiting from these characters, AMBs enable the machines with a very high rotational speed and has been widely used in compressors [2], motors [3], and flywheel system [4]. High rotational speed brings about many benefits such as high energy efficiency and compactness for the energy-saving and emission-reduction [5]. In these cases, because of structure limitation, the high speed machines have to operate above the bending critical speeds [6].…”

“…Fan et al (2012) utilized a single-objective GA to obtain optimal structural designs of radial AMBs, and validated the designs through real-world experiments. Yuan et al (2014) utilized three different algorithms, including a GA, a sequential quadratic programming (SQP), and a hybrid GA-SQP algorithm, to perform the multi-objective optimization of high-speed rotors supported by magnetic bearings. The results indicated that the GA can get better designs than the other two algorithms.…”

“…Although conventional motor with mechanical bearing has been widely used in the field of industrial production [1][2][3][4], it cannot meet the need of long time high-speed operation. Then motor with magnetic bearings is developed and widely used in high-speed drive kingdoms [5][6][7], but it still has a series of disadvantages [8][9][10][11], such as higher magnetic suspensions cost and difficulty to overspeed. Based on the comparability of stator structure between magnetic bearing and conventional AC motor, the bearingless motor is proposed [12][13][14][15].…”
