“…In this respect, the results of the present study add evidence to previous accounts demonstrating that the discriminative power of the balance items of the M-ABC is rather low (Miyahara et al, 1998;Van Waelvelde, De Weerdt, De Cock, & Smits-Engelsman, 2004). Post-hoc analysis showed that neither the sub-score for balance nor the score for unilateral stance (maximal time) did correlate significantly with the mean COG sway velocity in one of the mCTSIB-conditions (correlation coefficients between the time of one legged stance, sum of preferred and non-preferred leg, and postural sway were -.274, -.384, -.396, -.130 for FEO, FEC, FOEO, and FOEC, respectively).…”

“…Therefore it seems that the task DISCUSSION Performance in the manual dexterity component in MABC-2 was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in the 7-8 and 10 year old Czech girls in comparison to the means of the UK sample but not in the boys. The tendency of the girls to demonstrate a higher level of manual dexterity than the boys was reported in the previous studies using the first version of the MABC (Ruiz et al, 2003;Miyahara et al, 1998). This tendency, although in a small range, was observed in the Czech 7 and 8 year old children only when a medium size of gender effect (d = 0.52 and d = 0.57) on the manual dexterity score was found.…”

“…Although several models and perspectives point in this direction (Bronfenbrenner & Carvalho-Barreto, 2011;Clark, 2005;Gallahue & Ozmun, 2006), few studies provide investigation of these associations (Venetsanou & Kambas, 2009). Given the presence of FMS in most sport games, several studies used the argument of the most popular sport culture could influence and explain inter cultural differences in motor performance (Aponte, French, & Sherrill, 1990;Chow, Henderson, & Barnett, 2001;Miyahara et al, 1998;Wong & Cheung, 2006). Nevertheless, to our knowledge no study investigated the direct influence of most popular sport in each country.…”
