Appropriate and targeted strategies are needed to preserve places and buildings of historical value. Historical objects are objects that are susceptible to damage and may be unmatched elsewhere. So, damage to or loss of an heirloom is very fatal. Implementing conservation strategies in an area is necessary because a place or site has complex and varied constituent elements. In this case, an area that is neglected but still has historical features requires a special strategy and perhaps several strategies. This is also because the existing strategy does not yet provide criteria and considerations regarding this matter. Kali Mas Surabaya is a historical case study that was the initial downtown port in Surabaya before it was finally decommissioned and is now rarely maintained. By carrying out a comprehensive analysis of history, documentary evidence, and actual physical evidence, it will become the basis for policy analysis and implementation. Therefore, this research will focus on how to carry out conservation strategies for recalling and sustaining abandoned historical areas so that these strategies can be generalized and applied to other historical locations.

In recent years, one of the urbanism phenomena that has occurred in Indonesia is the existence of villages located in urban centers. Urban mobility is the most critical challenge encountered in various cities. The frequent occurrence of traffic jams, air pollution, and people's dependence on using private transportation rather than public transportation is a challenge to urban mobility that requires sustainable solutions. The concept of new urbanism can be used as a way to approach urban planning to overcome problems that are related to urban design. One of the cities in Surabaya that applies the concept of new urbanism is Jambangan Village, where the dominant community has implemented several indicators of Asian New Urbanism to become a sustainable village. The aim of this research was to explain the concept of new urbanism implemented in cities in Indonesia and to analyze the impact of implementing new urbanism on the mobility behavior of urban communities in Indonesia. The research taken in this journal is qualitative research with the research approach used, namely a library research approach. This approach prioritizes reviews of the literature by collecting data from various sources. The existence of the new urbanism concept can have a positive impact on Jambangan Village if it is handled appropriately.

The archaeology of Jakarta is a multi-layered artefact compounded with thin period separations. In the geographical sphere of the “greater Jakarta area”, its roots start from the Neolithic with the discovery of Buni tradition pottery. The Buni area stretched along the north coast of west Java towards the interior to the south. This geographical sphere then became the oldest kingdom in the archipelago, Tarumanagara, an Indian-influenced Hindu Kingdom. A series of different ancient kingdoms ruled until the arrival of the Europeans. First, the Portuguese signed a treaty with Sunda (a Hindu Kingdom and ruler of the port of Kalapa) to defend their territory from Cirebon (an Islamic Kingdom in the eastern part of west java). Kalapa became a prized area that was fought over until the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, or VOC), led by J. P. Coen, burnt it down and built Batavia. Kalapa, as one of the few main ports of Sunda, historically welcomed people (with or without their will) from different areas. The influx of multicultural influence through this port continued when Batavia became the capital of the VOC, and then for the Netherlands Indies. The area grew into what is now known as the greater area of Jakarta. Although this greater area is now delineated into three different provinces, the cultural span of the area is still the same.
