The moderating effect of environmental turbulence on the relationship between innovation capability and business performance

Abstract: Purpose This study has dealt with the gap in the literature, by probing the influence of innovation capability on business performance. This paper aims to test the moderation role of technological turbulence (TT) and market turbulence (MT) on the relationship between innovation capability (IC) and business performance (BP). Design/methodology/approach The study used a quantitative survey and a sample size of 579 departmental heads. Branch managers and permanent staff from the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Weste… Show more

“…Second, using cross‐sectional data constrains the ability to make strong causal inferences from the results (Xu, 2017). Although we laid out a robust theoretical background for our moderation analysis, future research should employ a more fine‐tuned moderation analysis technique, mainly where there are multiple moderators (Gyedu et al, 2021). Third, we relied on data from a particular transitional economy, calling for caution in generalizing the results.…”

“…Resource dependency theory deemed that various activities within an organization are influenced by the external environment and that firms must adapt their innovation strategies to the external environment (Donaldson, 2001). By summarizing the existing literature, this paper finds that the market and technology are the two most prominent factors in environmental change (Zhang and Zhu, 2021; Gyedu et al , 2021; Guo et al , 2019). Likewise, these two factors also provide considerable feasibility conditions for the research of innovation strategy.…”
