The author examines the concept of “tactical risk” in the procedural work of an investigator, and defines the types of tactical risk singled out on different grounds. Taking into account the similarity between the investigation process and other types of managerial activities, the author draws a similarity between risk assessment in criminalistics and the management theory. It is suggested that risk factors should be identified, and their types in the work of the investigator should be determined on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach and the use of qualitative and quantitative assessments.
