The Method for Evaluation of Efficiency of the Concept of Centrally Managed Distribution in Cities

Abstract: The paper describes proecological solution dedicated for organizing logistics services in urban areas. Proposed solution is based on cross-docking processes combined with consolidation centres. Authors proposed new method of estimating economic and social benefits from implementing centrally managed cooperation of logistics operators using common city consolidation hubs. Developed mathematical model bases on Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) with vehicles of different types, limited loading capacities and multiply… Show more

“…the implementation of logistic tasks at an acceptable level of quality. As a result, the assessment of the efficiency of the supply chain operation comes down to the assessment of parameters defining the level or scope of the chain operation (Jacyna-Gołda et al, 2017b; Wasiak et al, 2017). Processes implemented in supply chains are connected with the implementation of a specific logistic task.…”

“…Non-technological transport innovations (e.g., sustainable urban mobility plans-SUMPs) equally contribute towards the improvement of transport issues [8]. Furthermore, urban areas are also important in terms of catalyzing the various preventive dimensions of transport policy [9,10].…”

“…Such activities are aimed at changing these cities' orientation towards cars (automobile-oriented cities) in an attempt to adapt their environment to the needs of society, especially pedestrians and cyclists. However, in order for this to be fully realized, one should look for solutions that will ensure a balance between ecological, economic and social aspects [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9].…”
