RESUMO -A indústria coureira tem grande importância econômica. Entretanto, a sobra de resíduos do processo e a crescente importância da geração de energia a partir de fontes renováveis faz com que seja necessário estudar formas de biodegradação dos resíduos e gerar energia a partir disso. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo realizar o isolamento e a identificação dos procariotos anaeróbios, alguns com potencial para a produção de biogás quando degradam resíduos de curtume. Para tanto, foram realizados testes em biorreatores de bancada contendo lodo de estação de tratamento de efluente de curtume e farelo de couro wet-blue e a geração de metano foi medida periodicamente, onde a produção máxima foi na sexta semana de experimento com média de 10 mL de geração diária de gás. Quando a produção de metano foi máxima, foi feita a coleta destes microrganismos anaeróbios para subsequente isolamento e identificação. INTRODUÇÃOA crescente importância da geração de energia a partir de fontes alternativas devido às altas taxas de poluição e sérios impactos ambientais causados pelas fontes tradicionais tornou as fontes de energias renováveis uma alternativa muito estudada atualmente. A geração de energia a partir de fonte renovável permite a reciclagem da matéria existente na natureza, renovando-a continuamente. São exemplos de energia renovável: recursos hídricos, energia eólica, energia solar, geotérmica, biomassa, entre outras. Define-se como biomassa todo recurso renovável proveniente de matéria orgânica, animal ou vegetal, sendo que a biomassa pode ser utilizada na produção de energia.A indústria coureira tem grande importância onde está inserida. O Brasil é um dos maiores produtores mundiais de couro sendo responsável por 13% da produção mundial. Entretanto, o processo de curtimento gera quantidades significativas de resíduos sólidos e líquidos com altos teores de poluentes, devido aos produtos tóxicos usados durante o processo, tais como, sulfato básico de cromo e sulfeto de sódio (DETTMER, 2012).Em um curtume, cada pele processada gera, em média, 12 kg de lodo residual com características variadas devido ao tipo de pele, à tecnologia no processamento, ao sistema empregado na estação de tratamento de efluente -ETE, entre outros fatores (SOUZA, 2009) . Aromatic compounds are inhibitors of methane biosynthesis in anaerobic treatment of solid wastes and industrial effluents. Anaerobic treatment of solid wastes and industrial effluents may be limited by the methanogenic bacteria inhibition exerted by these types of compounds, the production of biogas is not possible and the organic matter contained in the effluent is not reduced. These effluents poured in the nature can be the basis of the pollution. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of monosubstituted aromatic compounds functional groups on the methanogenic inhibition. The toxicity to acetoclastic methanogenic bacteria has performed in serum flasks, utilizing digested pig manure as inoculums, by measuring methane production. The nature of aromatic functional groups was observed to have a profound effect on the toxicity of the monosubstituted aromatics. Among the monosubstituted aromatic, the chlorobenzene was the most toxic with 50% of inhibition occurring at the concentration of 30.08 mg/l. In contrast, benzoic acid is the least inhibitory with IC 50 of 2515.20 mg/l. The partition coefficient octanol/water (logPoct), an indicator of hydrophobicity, had a significant correlation with the methanogenic toxicity.

The Arctic is warming which may potentially affect substrate availability, organic matter decomposition, plant growth, and plant species composition. This may lead to changes in the exchange of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) between the soil system and the atmosphere. Yet the correlations among substrate availability, CH4 production, and net emissions of CH4 have been scarcely studied in arctic wetlands. Presently, the impact of increasing temperatures on CH4 exchange is uncertain as the two existing reports on field warming in arctic wetlands present opposite results. We here report results on how summer warming and shrub removal affect soil water substrate (acetate, formate, oxalate, and dissolved organic carbon) concentrations as well as dissolved CH4 and CH4 emissions in a fen at Disko Island (West Greenland). The peak in dissolved CH4 followed the peak in acetate concentration, and appeared after the peak in CH4 emissions, which indicates a lack of correlation between CH4 production and emissions. The peak in CH4 emissions coincided with maximum gross ecosystem production suggesting that CH4 emissions are closely linked to photosynthesis. This was supported by an experiment with removal of the sedge Carex aquatilis ssp. stans which contributed with up to 77% of the CH4 emitted from the ecosystem. By contrast, shrub removal and summer warming did not significantly affect CH4 emissions, possibly due to the treatments impacting CH4 production more than emissions. This implies that such wetlands may be less sensitive to moderate warming and changes in shrub cover than previously assumed.
