The present paper examines the dominant isotopies under which linguistic clichés emerge in the context of the intense media coverage of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the linguistic automatisms excerpted from the online journalistic discourse proved to be prolific in identifying additional features of the linguistic “behaviour” of clichés. Furthermore, the investigation facilitated our understanding of the underlying motivations, implications, and potential effects triggered by the use of specific prefabricated structures. As a general remark, the analysis of these dominant overused schemes revealed how media institutions overuse, under the pressure of the international model, specific lexico-semantic isotopies which exploit prefabricated structures from distinct fields: war, particularly the area of pyrotechnic elements (“explosion of new cases”, “huge explosion of Covid cases”), the semantic area of natural disasters subsumed to liquidity (“a new wave of COVID”, “anti-Covid control wave”, “death wave”, “a wave of hateful comments”, “wave of infections/confirmations/illnesses”, “flood of accusations/fines”, “tsunami of COVID-19 patients/displacements”). We have also identified journalistic automatisms circumscribed to the isotopy of the economy (“epidemiological balance”), ranking and sports competition (statistical clichés: “top of infections”, “Covid top”, “top Covid infections”, “European top of Covid evolution”, “vaccine race”, among others), disaster (clichés of melodramatic excess, salient to tabloid journalism: “disaster”, “chaos”, “nightmare”, “COVID-19 drama”). For the present article, we channeled our investigative effort only towards the first two dominant isotopies. To achieve these objectives, we proposed a two-dimensional research model. Specifically, we correlated the data obtained through conjugating linguistic micro-parameters (semantic, stylistic features, lexical and morpho-syntactic patterns) and macrolevel variables (pragmatic, psycholinguistic aspects, perspectives derived from the sociology of media communication, critical analysis of discourse, among others). The investigation results revealed that these linguistic patterns, analyzed under the conceptual “umbrella” of isotopy, can function as rhetorical and lexico-semantic strategies through which journalists activate the receptors’ affective responses. Consequently, media discourse can trigger and maintain artificial states of anxiety, panic, and restlessness. Over time, this journalistic operation leads, through the impact of obsessive repetition, to the passive consumption of media representations and cultural stereotypes, of preconceived ideas.

Demersul investigativ de față propune o „cartografiere” a izotopiilor dominante generatoare de clișee lingvistice, în contexul mediatizării intense a pandemiei actuale de Covid-19. Analiza automatismelor lingvistice extrase din discursul jurnalistic online ne-a oferit indicii relevante, nu doar pentru a identifica particularități noi ale „comportamentului” lingvistic al clișeelor, ci și pentru înțelegerea mizelor, implicațiilor și posibilelor efecte ale utilizării anumitor structuri prefabricate. În principiu, examinarea acestor scheme de clișeizare a relevat modul în care instanțele mediatice preiau, sub presiunea modelului internațional, izotopiile lexico-semantice care exploatează structuri prefabricate din domenii distincte: războiul, cu predilecție zona elementelor pirotehnice („au explodat cazurile”, „explozie de noi cazuri”„ „explozie uriașă de cazuri de Covid”), aria semantică a dezastrelor naturale subsumată lichidității („un nou val de COVID”, „val de controale anti-Covid”, „val de decese”, „un val de comentarii pline de ură”, „val de infectări/ de confirmări/ de îmbolnăviri” etc, „potop de acuzații/ de amenzi”, „tsunami de bolnavi de Covid-19 / de concedieri”). De asemenea, am identificat automatisme jurnalistice circumscrise izotopiei economiei („bilanțul epidemiologic”), clasamentului și competiției sportive (clișee ale statisticilor: „topul infectărilor”, „topul Covid”, „topul îmbolnăvirilor cu Covid”, „topul european al evoluției Covid”, „cursa vaccinurilor” etc.), dezastrului (clișee ale excesului melodramatic, simptomatice jurnalismului de tip tabloid: „dezastru”, „haos”, „coșmar”, „drama Covid-19”). Efortul analitic a fost concentrat, pentru articolul de față, asupra primelor două izotopii dominante. Pentru a atinge aceste obiective, am propus un model de cercetare bidimensional, axat pe corelarea datelor obținute din unghiuri diferite, atît în funcție de microparametri lingvistici (valențe semantice, stilistice, tipare lexicale și morfosintactice), cît și de variabile macrocontextuale (aspecte pragmatice, psiholingvistice, perspective derivate din sociologia comunicării media, analiza critică a discursului etc.). Rezultatele investigației au evidențiat că aceste șabloane lingvistice, analizate în „acolada” conceptuală a izotopiilor, pot funcționa ca strategii retorice și lexico-semantice prin care jurnalistul activează energiile afective ale receptorilor. Se creează astfel stări artificiale de neliniște, panică, anxietate. În timp, această operație, conduce, prin impactul repetiției obsesive, la consumul pasiv de reprezentări mediatice și stereotipuri culturale, de idei preconcepute.

تم تصور Covid-19 مجازًا على أنه مرتبط بالحرب والكوارث والذعر والتوتر. تستخدم هذه الدراسة نظرية الاستعارة المفاهيمية التي اقترحها لاكوف وجونسون (1987) ، لمعالجة الاستعارة كآلية في تمثيل وتصور الخوف من فيروس كورونا (COVID-19) وكيفية التعامل مع انتشاره. تحاول هذه الدراسة الاجابة عن السؤال إلى أي مدى يعتمد مستخدمو اللغة على الاستعارات في شرح مخاوفهم تجاه هذا الوباء وما هي الموضوعات أو الجوانب التي يتم استيعاب الفيروس فيها. ويهدف إلى البحث عن هذاه الاستعارات في اللغة الإنجليزية ومقارنتها باللغة العربية في وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والأخبار ، اعتمادًا على عينات من المقالات والمنشورات الإلكترونية باللغتين منذ عام 2020. توصلت الدراسة الى انه على الرغم من الاختلاف الطفيف بين اللغتين ، فقد لوحظ أن المجموعتين غنيتان بالتعابير المجازية المتعلقة بفيروس كوفيد -19. يتم تصنيف هذه الاستعارات المفاهيمية إلى 12 موضوعًا ، وهي الحرب ، والكوارث ، وتغير المناخ ، والنماذج العقلية والمشاعر ، وما يجب القيام به حيال الفيروس ، والشخص ، والجريمة ، والعقاب ، والانتشار ، وكرة القدم ، والدين ، والسياسة ، والرحلة ، والألغاز. يتكون البحث من ثلاثة أجزاء: المقدمة التي تشمل الجزء النظري الذي يقدم مراجعة للنظرية المفاهيمية للاستعارة إلى جانب النظريات المحدثة المتعلقة بها. يشرح الجزء الثاني منهجية البحث التي تتضمن جمع البيانات من وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والأخبار والمقالات. ثم يتم تقديم النتائج وأخيرًا، تنتهي هذه الدراسة بالاستنتاجات التي تم التوصل إليها خلال هذا العمل.
