The Metabolism of Gibberellin A20 to Gibberellin A1 by Tall and Dwarf Mutants of Oryza sativa and Arabidopsis thaliana

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the metabolism of gibberellin AZO (CAzo) to gibberellin Al (CA,) by tall and mutant shoots of rice (Oryza sativa 1.) and Arabidopsis thaliana (1.) Heynh. The data show that the tall and dx mutant of rice and the tall and There are no published data on the metabolism of GA20 to GAI (Fig. 1) for shoots of rice (Oyza sativa L.). Unpublished metabolic data (Zeevaart and Talon, 1992) indicate the presence of this step in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. GA20, GAl, and GA,… Show more

“…There are dwarf mutants in plants other than maize that block the conversion of GA20 to GA1, e.g., the le mutant of pea (13), the ga4 mutant of arabidopsis (14,24), and the dy mutant 19-20 9 Typical identification data are shown in Table 3.…”

“…Seedlings of this mutant are deficient in GA 1 and accumulate its immediate precursor, GA 20 (14). The metabolism of GA 20 to GA 1 is lower in d18-dy plants than in normal ones (15). It has been proposed that the D18 gene encodes a GA 3␤-hydroxylase (15).…”
