The Mediating Effect of Coping Style on Physical Activity and Negative Affect Caused by Public Health Emergencies: Evidence from Chinese College Students

Abstract: In this study, we explored the relationship between physical activity (PA), coping style (CS) and negative affect caused by public health emergencies (PHENA), to examine if CS can play a mediating role between PA and PHENA, and analyzed the different effects of positive coping (PC) and negative coping (NC). “…Resilience partially mediated the relationship between social support and physical activity, and the mediating effect accounted for 25.93% of the total effect of social support on physical activity. The empirical literature reveals that psychological, social, and cognitive factors influence the levels of physical activity in adults with HF, which implies that other variables, such as depression, coping style, and self-efficacy, may mediate the relationship between social support and physical activity (Deka et al, 2021; Klompstra et al, 2018; Kukihara et al, 2018; Liu et al, 2021).…”

“…This study measures the dimension of soccer participation from the perspectives of the usual exercise volume of soccer (volume) and the exposure duration to soccer (duration). Volume was measured using The Physical Activity Scale–3 (PARS–3) [ 34 , 35 ]. A Likert scale of one to five is used for scoring.…”
