“…The index of refraction can assist in clarifying the oxide or nitride nature of the library, which cannot reliably be determined by EDX. Based on the refractive indices of AlN (2.16 [27]), Si 3 N 4 (2.04 [28]), Al 2 O 3 (1.76 [29,) and SiO 2 (1.46[29, 10-249]), we can conclude that the library lies closer to an oxide-type than to a nitride-type material. Within a material, the anions are mainly responsible for the value of n. Since n is constant for most of the library, we can conclude that the O:N ratio within our SiAlONs are the same throughout the library, with only the cations varying.…”

“…The capillary constant, K, is a specific factor for each capillary. The constants (0.007475, 0.007356 and 0.007551) that were provided by the manufacturer were recalculated using the literature value of the kinematic viscosity of water at 25°C, 0.8926 mm 2 /s [21]. These tests were carried out with distilled water at 25°C and the new constants were 0.007332, 0.007143 and 0.007330, respectively.…”

“…These four groups of diseases account for over 80% of all the early deaths by NCD. Among the different types of NCD, the most important are cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer (Molina, 2014). At the global level, of the 57 million people who died in 2008, 63% were due to NCD and over 80% of these deaths were caused by cardiovascular and respiratory diseases (World Heatlh Organization, 2010).…”
