Die Photolyse der a-Diazophosphonsaureester 70 -c in Benzol bzw. 1,4-Dichlorbenzol sowie des Diazoessigsaure-athylesters und des Diazomethylphosphonsaure-dimethylesters in 1,4-DichIorbenzol und 1,3-Bis(trifluormethyI)benzol fuhren zu Cyclopropanierungsprodukten, die in Abhangigkeit von den Substituenten als Norcaradien, Cycloheptatrien oder valenztautomeres Gleichgewicht beider Strukturen vorliegen. Die thermodynamischen Parameter des Systems 8% b # 9% b werden aus der Temperaturabhangigkeit der 'H-NMR-Spektren ermittelt. Fiir die 7-monosubstituierten Systeme 36% b # 37% b, 39 P 40, 41 e 43 und 42 P 44 werden die Gleichgewichtskonstanten und AGO-Werte bei Raumtemperatur abgeschatzt. Der Vergleich der AHo-Werte mit denen literaturbekannter Norcaradien/Cycloheptatrien-Gleichgewichte zeigt, daB a) die 7-exo-standige PO(OCH,),-Gruppe die Norcaradienform um = 1 kcal/moI gegenuber dem C02R-Rest destabilisiert, b) der 7-endo-standige Phenylring die Norcaradienform um z 2 kcal/mol besser relativ zur Cycloheptatrienform stabilisiert als eine C02R-Gruppe und c) die Einfuhrung von zwei Chloratomen an C-2 und C-5 die Enthalpiedifferenz um z 3 kcal/mol zugunsten des Bicyclus verandert. Fur die beobachteten Substituenteneinfliisse werden vornehmlich sterische Effekte verantwortlich gemacht.Carbenes, 10') Substitoent Dependence of the Norcaradiene/CycloheptPtrien+Equilibrium -Investigated in 7-Phosphoryl-and 7-carbonyisuhstituted SyStemS Photolysis of the a-Diazophosphonates 7a-c in benzene or 1,4dichlorobenzene as well as of ethyl diazoacetate and dimethyl diazomethylphosphonate in 1,Cdichlorobenzene or 1,3-bis(trilluoromethy1)benzene affords products of cyclopropanation, which either exist as norcaradiene, cycloheptatriene, or as a valence tautomeric equilibrium of both structures, depending on the nature of the substituents. From the temperature dependence of the 'H n. m. r. spectra, the thermodynamic parameters of the system 8a, b # 9% b are obtained. Equilibrium constants and AGO-values at room temperature are estimated for the 7-monosubstituted systems 36% b P 374 b, 39 # 40, 41 # 43, and 42 # 44. Comparing the AHo-values of our systems with those of published norcaradiene/cycloheptatriene equilibria, we state that a) the ~-~x~-P O ( O C H~)~ substituent destabilizes the norcaradiene structure by z 1 kcal/mole with regard to the C02R-group, ') 9.
