Abstract:Pyruvate carboxylase (PC) is a multifunctional, allosterically regulated, biotin‐dependent enzyme that carboxylates pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The conversion of pyruvate to oxaloacetate is accomplished by coupling two half reactions that are catalyzed at spatially distinct active sites in the Biotin Carboxylase (BC) and Carboxyltransferase (CT) domains, through the movement of a carrier domain (Biotin Carboxyl Carrier Protein; BCCP). PC is a homotetramer, with two subunits contributing to each face of the tetra… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
