Enhancing green innovation for business sustainability represents a pressing global challenge. In the context of the manufacturing industry, the relationship between proactive green innovation (PGI) and structural social capital (SSC) remains a profoundly under-researched area. Drawing upon the theories of social capital and dynamic capability (DC), this study investigated the relationship between SSC and PGI within manufacturing enterprises via three individual and sequential mediating factors, namely cognitive social capital (CSC), relational social capital (RSC), and DC. Adopting a cross-sectional quantitative design, this study collected survey data from 485 manufacturing sector employees in China using purposive sampling. Structural equation modeling analysis of the data revealed no significant direct impact of SSC on PGI, but a strong indirect impact through the sequential mediating influences of CSC, RSC, and DC. The findings suggests that PGI within manufacturing enterprises is not wholly shaped by SSC; rather, firm-level dynamic capabilities, characterized by a sequential mechanism, plays a crucial role in achieving PGI within these enterprises. This paper offers both theoretical and practical contributions and provides recommendations for future research based on its limitations.

PurposeEmployee knowledge is an essential contributor to managing supply chain ambiguities and supply improvement. The current research examined green technology (GT) implementation and knowledge management (KM) processes toward knowledge worker supply performance (KWSP). The present study postulates that GT implementation's positive impacts on the KM process and KM process lead to improved KWSP based on employee knowledge contribution.Design/methodology/approachTo accomplish the research objective, the data were taken from those production houses that are utilizing GT. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed in Zhengzhou city, and feedback was received (343). The feedback data were studied through partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). fsQCA is used to analyze improving the multiple configurational paths of KWSP.FindingsThe study revealed that GT implementation is positively associated with the KM process, and KM processes substantially influence the improvement of KWSP. The consequence of fsQCA demonstrated that various combinations improve supply chain performance. The study combines certain dimensions of GT implementation with the KM process, revealing that supply chain performance improved based on knowledge sharing in manufacturing firms.Research limitations/implicationsThis study guides decision-makers and academics on using the knowledge process associated with GT to improve supply chain performance. Moreover, future researchers should use information technology in supply houses and compare the result with the literature to generalize the results better.Originality/valueThe asymmetric technique assists in differentiating the connections that are not directly investigated by the traditional symmetric method. The study covers and identifies various approaches that can be used in manufacturing firms to improve the supply chain process and employee satisfaction. The study combines the two techniques to understand supply performance based on knowledge sharing in manufacturing firms.

Due to a significant reduction in the availability and standard of natural resources, numerous firms are claiming to implement environmentally sustainable practices. This research constructs and validates green variables within the knowledge management (KM) process, drawing on resource‐based views (RBV) and organizational learning theory. It aims to explain how manufacturing firms minimize innovation risk. The author followed a combined methodology of Smart partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM) and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). Primary response data were collected from industry experts and literature studies to develop items for the knowledge aptitude model to decrease innovation risk (KMIR). The mixed variables of the KM and green process were validated through the fsQCA technique. The outcome of PLS‐SEM showed a positive connection between certain green variables to minimize innovation risk. fsQCA examines the combined approach of green implementation and KM practice; the finding indicated significant connections between green variables and the KM process to KMIR. This study can be measured as innovative in the KMIR field, as it has validated and developed its constructs based on primary data. It can help scholars and industry experts acquire a head start in the KMIR field, and this mechanism will assist with the investigation of the green variables and knowledge domain, providing an outline for future studies.
