“…Diagnosis of CD in such cases would alleviate patient anxiety and avoid unwarranted neoadjuvant therapy. Surgical excision has been the mainstay of treatment for LCD especially those localized to pancreas as suggested by Bowne et al [13]. In the absence of progression of the disease, conservative management of our two cases, provide some evidence to prove the contrary.…”

“…5 Surgery has long been considered standard therapy for the localized type, with a variety of case reports and retrospective series reporting excellent rates of cure. 4,5,[10][11][12][13][14] Careful follow-up with regular confirmation that the tumor is not growing might be an alternative to a hurried surgical intervention, as long as the characteristic findings of diagnostic imaging remain unchanged, although there have been no reports of long-term follow-up without surgery. However, with follow-up alone, there may be a risk that tumor growth could evoke clinical symptoms caused by a mass effect, which could make the surgical magnitude greater, necessitating other organ resection or making the tumor unresectable.…”

“…The disorder has also been reported using various synonyms, including giant lymph node hyperplasia, lymph node hamartoma, follicular lymphoreticuloma, benign giant hamartoma and angiofollicular mediastinal lymph node hyperplasia. 2 The etiology of Castleman's disease is unclear, but chronic low-grade inflammation, hamartomous processes, immunodeficient status and autoimmunity have all been proposed as likely pathogenic mechanisms. 2 While the disease is usually found in the mediastinum, it can occur anywhere along the lymphatic chain.…”

The disease has two histologic variants: the hyaline vascular type, comprising 90% of cases, and the Castleman's disease with leiomyosarcoma 621 plasma cell type comprising the remaining 10%.…”
