The LVS Parametric Tadpole Constraint

Xin Gao,
Arthur Hebecker,
Simon Schreyer
et al.

Abstract: The large volume scenario (LVS) for de Sitter compactifications of the type IIB string is, at least in principle, well protected from various unknown corrections. The reason is that, by construction, the Calabi-Yau volume is exponentially large. However, as has recently been emphasised, in practice the most explicit models are rather on the border of parametric control. We identify and quantify parametrically what we believe to be the main issue behind this difficulty. Namely, a large volume implies a shallow … Show more

“…Even the most studied scenarios, namely KKLT and LVS [56,57], are not free from criticisms, see e.g. [28,[58][59][60][61][62][63] for recent works. The absence of fully understood examples has once more led to the formulation of swampland conjectures forbidding de Sitter vacua in quantum gravity, such as those of [64][65][66][67].…”

“…This could allow for cosmologically relevant axionic strings [69] and also impact the dark radiation problem [35]. However, apart from the model building challenge, one presumable faces a considerable tadpole issue related to such an appropriately large throat [55].…”
