Abstract: Loneliness can be prominent in bereavement, possibly leading to compromised mental and physical health. We systematically reviewed the extent of loneliness across marital status groups, examining the prevalence, intensity, risk factors, and correlates of loneliness in widowhood, compared to other marital statuses.
