The large vestibular aqueduct: A new definition based on audiologic and computed tomography correlation

Abstract: The finding of an LVA in children with SNHL provides diagnostic as well as prognostic information.

“…Based on a review of 73 CTs from children with known normal hearing, new criteria for the diagnosis of EVA have been proposed. 7 These criteria, which we will refer to as the Cincinnati criteria, were based on a statistical analysis which defined vestibular aqueducts with midpoint width (1.0 mm) or opercular width (2.0 mm) that were greater than the 95 th percentile as enlarged.
