The Ku70 −1310C/G promoter polymorphism is associated with breast cancer susceptibility in Chinese Han population

Abstract: Ku70 plays an important role in the DSBR (DNA double-strand breaks repair) and maintenance of genomic integrity. Genetic variations within human Ku70 have been demonstrated to be associated with increased risk of several types of cancers. In this hospital-based case-control study, we aimed to investigate whether a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the promoter region (rs2267437) of Ku70 gene is associated with susceptibility to breast cancer in Chinese Han population. A total of 293 patients with breast … Show more

“…PRKDC and XRCC6 play an important role in the suppression of chromosomal rearrangements and in the maintenance of genome integrity, along with a significant function in the recognition and repair of double strand breaks 70 . Therefore, their roles were studied in various cancers, such as breast 71,72 , glioma 73 , renal 74 , hepatocellular 75,76 , digestive 77 , bladder 78 and lung 70 cancer. www.nature.com/scientificreports www.nature.com/scientificreports/ On the other hand, Ku complex is known to interact with RECQL4 and to form a macromolecular assembly promoting NHEJ.…”

Genetic variations within human Ku70 have been demonstrated to be associated with increased risk of several types of cancers (Wenshan et al, 2011). XRCC7 (X-ray repair cross complementing group 7) is located on chromosome 8q12, span about 110-180 kb and contains 100 exons.…”
