The kinematical and space structures of IC 2391 open cluster and moving group with Gaia-DR2

Abstract: The kinematical parameters, spatial shape and structure of the open cluster IC 2391 and the associated stellar stream are studied here using Gaia-DR2 (GDR2) astrometry data. The apex positions are determined for the open cluster IC 2391 (data taken from Cantat-Gaudin et al.) and for the kinematical stream's stars mentioned in Montes et al. using both convergent point and AD-diagram methods. The values of apex coordinates are: (A, D) CP =(6. h 17 ± 0. h 004, −6. • 88 ± 0. • 381; for cluster) & (6. h 07 ± 0. h 0… Show more

“…The CP method: This method assumes that all the member stars of a cluster possess the same space velocities. The velocity components along the x, y, and z axes (V x , V y , V z ) for a cluster having coordinates (α,δ) with proper motions (µ α * ; µ δ ) and radial velocity V r at a distance of d i (in pc) in the heliocentric coordinate system are given by Smart (1968) as described in Postnikova et al (2020). We found the coordinates of the apex (A CP , D CP ) to be (77. ii).…”

“…The VEPs for the most probable cluster members are computed using a computational algorithm (see Elsanhoury 2015;Elsanhoury et al 2018;Postnikova et al 2020). We cross-matched cluster members with the catalog given by Soubiran et al (2018).…”

“…We aim to derive apex coordinates (A, D) of the cluster on the celestial sphere (Vereshchagin et al 2014, Postnikova et al 2020 based on 2MASS and Gaia DR2 catalogs. The apex demonstrates the actual direction where the object moves.…”

“…We used the distribution of individual apexes of cluster members in the equatorial coordinate system. Also, some kinematical parameters and velocity ellipsoid parameters (VEPs) are presented here with the computational algorithm presented in our previous papers (Elsanhoury et al 2015, Postnikova et al 2020, Bisht et al 2020.…”
