SIR,-Tissue cultures usua:lly require a C02-in-air incubator to maintain the proper pH in the medium. When chemicaJ,s are introduced into the culture to test for their carcinogenic or mutagenic activity, potentia'lly hazardous matedals might be volatilised and released through the incubator vent.
