The IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY in 2020: extending immunopharmacology content and introducing the IUPHAR/MMV Guide to MALARIA PHARMACOLOGY

Abstract: The IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY (www.guidetopharmacology.org) is an open-access, expert-curated database of molecular interactions between ligands and their targets. We describe significant updates made over the seven releases during the last two years. The database is notably enhanced through the continued linking of relevant pharmacology with key immunological data types as part of the IUPHAR Guide to IMMUNOPHARMACOLOGY (www.guidetoimmunopharmacology.org) and by a major new extension, the IUPHAR/MMV Gui… Show more

“…The set of 394 annotated human non-olfactory GPCR and their annotated primary and secondary transducers was obtained from the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology/British Pharmacological Society (IUPHAR/BPS) Guide to Pharmacology database's Rest API (Armstrong et al, 2020). Secondary and primary transduction annotations were obtained for 251 GPCR and aggregated into a single coupling descriptor, i.e.…”

“…This is the first guide specifically designed to cover the pharmacology of the immune system. [2][3][4][5][6][7] GtoImmuPdb builds on Guide to Pharmacology (GtoPdb, www.guide topharmacology.org), 8 a long-established dataset containing quantitative information on most of the clinical and experimental drug targets and the medications acting on them.…”

“…These comments, among other things, indicate if a structure is part of GtoImmuPdb and contains any immunopharmacology curatorial comments. Described in more detail in our most recent NAR paper, the inclusion of these comments in our PubChem submissions make it possible to run domain‐specific queries related to immunopharmacology when searching via PubChem.…”

“…It has its origins in IUPHAR‐DB and the BPS Guide to Receptors and Channels, both of which focused on receptors and channels . The scope of GtoPdb has expanded over the years and a Wellcome Trust‐funded project has allowed us to address the priority area of immunity, inflammation and infection . In the course of that project, the database has expanded into the field of immunopharmacology …”
