The investigation of the effect of operating conditions in gearboxes on efficiency

İsmail Kaya,
Cemal Baykara

Abstract: Efficiency is a concept that evaluates the optimal utilization of resources, including time, energy, finances, or materials, in order to accomplish a particular goal or objective. As widely acknowledged, energy losses occur in systems involving relative motion between interacting machine elements due to friction. In the case of a gearbox, these losses can arise from tooth friction in the gear mechanism, friction in sealing elements, friction in roller bearings, and the influence of the lubricant used in the sy… Show more

“…Furthermore, by adopting the full factorial design, the number of experiments can be increased without taking into account the budget for each experiment because this is a simulation experiment. There will be 5 3 = 125 experiments as a result of the three experimental variables and five levels for each variable. But out of the three variables that are listed, Table 1 shows that u 1 has the widest distribution (ranging from 1 to 9).…”

“…Research on helical gearbox optimization has been fairly extensive up to this point on both single-objective and multi-objective optimization problems. The single-objective optimization problems have been conducted with different objectives, including increasing gearbox efficiency [2,3], reducing radiated noise [4][5][6], gear box length [7][8][9][10], gearbox height [11], gearbox volume [8][9][10][11][12], gear mass [11,13,14], gearbox cross-section area [15][16][17][18],…”
