The Investigation of Steel Structure Used in Residential Buildings

Abstract: Steel building construction is an important aspect of architecture system in the world. With the rapid development of the steel industry, contemporary steel housing in many developed countries presented dominant position in the market. In this paper, the advantages of steel structure in sustainability, strength, appearance and other aspects are summarized. Also, the application in residential buildings are analyzed, especially in green buildings. Furthermore, a study on the construction of steel building of I-… Show more

“…Steel plant system is known as "green factory", with lots of advantages such as short construction cycle, energy saving, environmental protection, recycling and removable recycling comparing with reinforced concrete structure (Wang and Li, 2014). And because of the unique advantages steel structure are widely used in industrial, commercial and civil buildings (Ding, Jian and Lin, 2006).…”

“…In the first part of the study, spans of the frames (for both CSB and PEB) were varied from 30 m to 35 m, 40 m, 45 m and 50 m and the effect of this variation is monitored in terms of weight, deflection and sideway of the frames and later on these values were also compared with the allowable values of MBMA 2006. In the next part, the bay spacing of the frames varied from 4 m to 5,6,7,8,9, and 10 m, respectively. In the third and fourth part, the seismic forces and wind forces were gradually varied.…”
