“…In particular, M1 macrophages produce proinflammatory cytokines LPS induces PTL and preterm birth (PTB). [41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48] Treatment of mice with LPS is widely used to mimic human PTL. Thus, in this study, we used bacterial LPS to induce PTL in an established model that mimics infection; whether this also replicates other inflammatory events that lead to PTL remains to be investigated.…”

“…Calponin was highly expressed in mature smooth muscle cells and increased with the maturation process (Hossain et al., 2003), but decreased when smooth muscle cells transformed from contractile type to synthetic type (Wang et al., 2020). As a microfilament of the actin family, α‐SMA contained the specificity that can regulate cell morphology and is mainly expressed in differentiated mature vascular smooth muscle cells, of which the expression changes can reflect the smooth muscle cell contractility (Han et al., 2020). The results from this study showed that EAP rats were accompanied by a down‐regulation of the calponin and α‐SMA protein expression in penile tissue, which was in accordance with the concentration changes of PTHS.…”
