Abstract

The interplay between autophagy and cancer has been a subject of extensive research. This study aims to explore the role of autophagy in both suppressing and promoting tumorigenesis and investigate its potential value in clinical prognosis and therapy. By comprehensively analyzing the intricate involvement of autophagy in cancer biology, we unveil its affirmative impact on immune responses and DNA damage repair in tumor suppression, as well as its pivotal role in cell survival, angiogenesis, and treatment resistance in tumor promotion. Furthermore, we discuss the relationship between autophagy and the prognosis of cancer patients, along with the prospects of autophagy as a potential therapeutic target.
