“…The rate of lubricant use among persons with PVC was about 72% and 12% of male and female participants, respectively, much lower than expected, in the present study. According to the ICS survey, 98.3% of respondents of the ICS members recommended the use of some type of lubricant, and 48.8% of respondents recommended the use of a local anesthetic jelly, which is also commonly used in Japan 15 . The use of lubricants is included for the prevention of urethral trauma and subsequent urethral stricture as well as sUTI 8,10 .…”
