The intellectual base and research fronts of IL-37: A bibliometric review of the literature from WoSCC

Abstract: BackgroundIL-37 is a recently identified cytokine with potent immunosuppressive functions. The research fronts of IL-37 are worth investigating, and there is no bibliometric analysis in this field. The purpose of this study is to construct the intellectual base and predict research hotspots of IL-37 research both quantitatively and qualitatively according to bibliometric analysis.MethodsThe articles were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from the inception of the database to 1… Show more

“…Keyword co-occurrence and bursts can indicate research hotspots within a particular field over a period of time (Qin et al, 2022). The top 20 most often used keywords revealed potential hotspots regarding links between TCEs and CVD, and the keywords whose bursts lasted until 2022 reveal the most recent hot topics, with high burst strength reflecting the importance of given time periods.…”

“…As for co-cited journals, Critical Care Medicine (719) had the most citations and contributions, followed by Circulation (620), Shock (573), American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology (553), Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology (502), and etc. Six of the top 10 co-cited journals belonged to Q1 in 2021, implying that high-impact journals provided credible theoretic or data bases for SIMD-related research ( 28 ). In addition, the dual-map overlay of journals on SIMD ( Figure 6 ) showed that papers published in Molecular/Biology/Genetics journals were often cited by Molecular/Biology/Immunology and Medicine/Medical/Clinical journals, and that papers published in Health/Nursing/Medicine were also often cited by Molecular/Biology/Immunology.…”

“…The most well-known and important database of scientific literature, the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), was selected as the data source for this study. WoSCC, the most widely used database in prior bibliometric studies ( Dai et al, 2022 ; Miao et al, 2022 ; Qin et al, 2022 ), is an ideal database containing information corresponding to over 10,000 high-quality journals. It was chosen for this bibliometric analysis because it offers a wealth of bibliometric indicators, such as publication and reference information.…”
