Text-based vignettes are widely used within qualitative social work research yet there is little guidance on how to construct and integrate them into the research process. This article discusses the uses, benefits and limitations of written vignettes as part of semi-structured interviews and focus groups with social workers and related professionals. It provides clear guidelines on how to design a vignette. This includes the choice of scenario, characteristics of the protagonist, type of vignette, research setting, length, vignettes in semi-structured interviews and pre-testing. Text-based vignettes have been successfully used in social work research on six continents in a variety of research contexts including single context, comparative, cross-sectional, longitudinal and replication studies. Written vignettes are a useful tool to elicit (professional) values, attitudes and decision-making processes in a time efficient manner that produces focused, in-depth knowledge without the need to use real practice examples that could potentially include sensitive data or breach confidentiality. Vignettes have been used to explore a wide range of topics including but not limited to adult safeguarding, care planning, child protection and multi-agency working together. There is some debate whether vignette responses mirror real-life actions. The value of vignette data goes beyond documenting real-world decision-making. It can uncover tacit social work knowledge and unquestioned beliefs to show how they interplay in decision-making.

I socialpsykologisk gruppeforskning er der en tendens til at fokusere på gruppens indflydelse på individet, mens interaktionen mellem individ og gruppe ofte fortoner sig. Grupper har imidlertid mange variationsformer, og nyere teorier sætter spørgsmålstegn ved den måde, som socialpsykologien beskæftiger sig med det sociale og konteksten på. I denne artikel tolker vi social identitetsteori ud fra nyere objekt-orienterede teorier, som gør det muligt at forstå, hvordan gruppen skaber sit eget objekt og håndterer afvigelser. Denne tilgang gør det også muligt at forstå, hvordan konfigurationen af komponenter i gruppen får indflydelse på transformationen af individet i gruppen. Konfigurationen i gruppen synes at være afgørende for grænserne for afvigelse i gruppen og dermed også for individets transformation i gruppen.

In the present paper, pure polymeric blend films [PVA: PVP] reinforced by CaCl2.2H2O salt have been produced with different weight ratios (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 wt %) by using the solution casting method, where the mechanical properties such as tensile, hardness, and impact were studied. The effects of weight ratio of salt on tensile characteristics of reinforced polymeric blend films have been studied, where we note the increase in the values of the tensile characteristics that are represented by Yung modulus and the maximum tensile strength (at all weight ratios) of the reinforcement by CaCl2.2H2O salt in comparison with pure polymeric blend films [PVA: PVP] reinforced by CaCl2.2H2O salt. The impact of salt weight ratio on hardness (Shore D) of polymeric blend films was studied, and the experimental results showed that the hardness increased with an increase in salt weight ratio, as well as the effect of salt weight ratio on the impact represented by fracture energy and impact strength of the reinforced polymeric blend films, where it was found that the values of the fracture energy and impact strength increased with an increase of the salt weight ratio.
