“…It is likely that the binding differences observed here indicate differences in fertilisation capacity. Whether this is ultimately reflected in reduced farrowing rate and litter sizes depends largely on the insemination dose, intervals between AI and ovulation and other farm management factors (Waberski et al 1994a, Johnson et al 2000. The present study was not designed to find a correlation between BI and fertility, and it cannot be expected that there would be a linear relationship for any sperm parameter to be tested.…”
