The influence of winter wheat leaf diseases on yield and yield components = Ziemas kviešu lapu slimību ietekme uz ražu un tās struktūrelementiem

Abstract

The field trials was conducted at Training and Research Farm “Pēterlauki” of Latvia University of Life Sciences and technologies in four seasons from 2017/2018 till 2020/2021. The research was supported by the EIP–AGRI project “The development of the decision-making support system for restriction of the diseases, affecting leaves and ears of winter wheat” and by the European Social Fund within the project 522 (No. 8.2.2.0/20/I/001) “LLU Transition to a new funding model of doctoral studies” Hypothesis of the thesis: The harmfulness of winter wheat leaf diseases depends on the severity of disease during the vegetation period and the meteorological conditions of the year. The aim of the thesis To determine the impact of the winter wheat leaf diseases on the yield and yield-forming components, depending on the agro-ecological conditions. Research tasks 1. To describe the peculiarities of development of winter wheat leaf diseases depending on meteorological conditions. 2. To analyze the development of winter wheat leaf diseases depending on intensity of fungicide treatment. 3. To analyze the yield and the yield-forming components of winter wheat depending on intensity of fungicide treatment. 4. To analyze the influence of nitrogen on the development of winter wheat leaf diseases, the yield and the yield-forming components. The structure of the research paper: Chapter 1 – The literature review includes four subchapters. The chapter includes the characteristics of the most common leaf diseases of winter wheat, describes the effect of agrotechnical measures, the effect of leaf diseases on yield and yield-forming components and chemical control of leaf diseases. Chapter 2 – Materials and methods includes five subchapters. The chapter describes the methodology of field trial, field observations and analysis, the meteorological conditions at the site as well as the mathematical data processing methods used. Chapter 3 – The results and discussion includes four subchapters. The chapter analyzes the dinamics of development of leaf blotches at different plant growth stages, the total disease impact (AUDPC) during vegetation period, the efficiency of fungicide treatment schemes at different rates of top-dressing nitrogen fertilisation. The impact of fungicide treatment schemes on the grain yield and yield-forming components, as well as the interaction between the severity of leaf blotches and formation of yield were eveluated. The conclusions include answers to the research tasks. The paper contains 14 tables, 18 figures, 24 annexes, 217 scientific source references, 11 footnotes. Zinātniskā darba izstrādāšanai lauka izmēģinājumi veikti Latvijas Biozinātņu un tehnoloģiju universitātes (iepriekš Latvijas Lauksaimniecības universitāte) Lauksaimniecības fakultātes Mācību un pētījumu saimniecībā “Pēterlauki”, izmēģinājuma periods četras ražas sezonas: 2016./2017. – 2019./2020. gads. Pētījums veikts ar EIP-AGRI projekta “Lēmuma pieņemšanas atbalsta sistēmas izstrāde ziemas kviešu lapu un vārpu slimību ierobežošanai” un ESF projekta Nr. 8.2.2.0/20/I/001 “LLU pāreja uz jauno doktorantūras finansēšanas modeli” atbalstu. Darba hipotēze: Ziemas kviešu lapu slimību postīgums ir atkarīgs no slimību attīstības pakāpes veģetācijas periodā un gada meteoroloģiskajiem apstākļiem. Promocijas darba mērķis Noskaidrot ziemas kviešu lapu slimību ietekmi uz ražu un tās struktūrelementiem atkarībā no agroekoloģiskajiem apstākļiem. Pētījuma uzdevumi 1. Raksturot ziemas kviešu lapu slimību attīstības īpatnības atkarībā no meteoroloģiskajiem apstākļiem. 2. Analizēt lapu slimību attīstību atkarībā no fungicīdu lietošanas intensitātes. 3. Analizēt ziemas kviešu ražu un tās struktūrelementus atkarībā no fungicīdu lietošanas intensitātes. 4. Analizēt slāpekļa ietekmi uz lapu slimību attīstību, kviešu ražu un tās struktūrelementiem. Promocijas darba strukturējums: 1. nodaļa – Literatūras apskats ietver četras apakšnodaļas. Nodaļā ietilpst izplatītāko ziemas kviešu lapu slimību raksturojums, aprakstīta agrotehnisko pasākumu ietekme, lapu slimību ietekme uz ražas veidošanos un lapu slimību ķīmiskā ierobežošana. 2. nodaļa – Materiāli un metodes ietver piecas apakšnodaļas. Nodaļā aprakstīta lauka izmēģinājumu ierīkošanas metodika, veiktās uzskaites, raksturoti meteoroloģiskie apstākļi izmēģinājumu vietā, kā arī izmantotās datu matemātiskās apstrādes metodes. 3. nodaļa – Izmēģinājuma rezultāti un diskusija ietver četras apakšnodaļas. Tajās analizēta lapu plankumainību attīstības dinamika, kopējā lapu plankumainību attīstība (AUDPC), fungicīdu lietošanas shēmu efektivitāte lapu plankumainību ierobežošanā pie dažādām slāpekļa papildmēslojuma normām, izvērtēta fungicīdu lietošanas shēmu ietekme uz kviešu ražas struktūrelementu veidošanos un graudu ražu, vērtētas sakarības starp lapu plankumainību attīstības pakāpi un ražas veidošanos. Secinājumos dotas atbildes uz izvirzītajiem pētījuma uzdevumiem. Darbā ietvertas 14 tabulas, 18 attēli, 24 pielikumi, izmantoti 217 literatūras avoti, 11 atsauces parindenī.
