“…Furthermore, the result of this study was agreed with Ahmed and Ali, 2018;Issa and Abdul-Fattah, 2015;Singh et al, 2018;Kreve et al, 2019, when they studied the effect of incorporation of nanoparticles to the denture soft lining materials and also agreed with other studies (Meran and Salem, 2020) when 3% of MgONPs was incorporated to a silicone maxillofacial silicone and found a significant inhibitory effect of these fillers against C. albicans.…”

“…The particle map and EDX analysis showed evidence of the TiO 2 NPs. In the authors’ previous investigation, it was established by FTIR spectroscopy that a similar shape of absorption peaks was found for both the experimental and control samples, and this indicated no chemical reaction between TiO 2 NPs and PEMA [ 27 ]. Furthermore, the SEM images presented in Figure 6 demonstrate that TiO 2 NPs were fairly uniformly distributed with some areas of aggregation within the PEMA matrix.…”

“…However, special attention should be given to the fact that the addition of nanoparticles must not significantly affect other physical, mechanical, optical, or aesthetic properties. In a previous study, it was found that adding 2.0 wt.% TiO 2 NPs to PEMA soft liners resulted in a decrease in hardness, no change in shear bond strength, and an increase in the opacity of the liner material [ 27 ]. Similar results regarding the degradation of the mechanical and color properties of the PMMA denture base with the addition of TiO 2 NPs were also reported [ 37 , 38 , 39 ].…”

“…The specimens were withdrawn from the suspension and washed for 1 minute with phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) to eliminate yeast cells that had not been attached to the filter paper [22]. The adherent C. albicans cells on the soft liner specimens were fixed with methanol, stained with crystal violet for 60 seconds, rinsed with PBS for 30 s, dried with filter paper, and stored in sterile test tubes, and then inspected under an inverted light microscope [33]. The adherent C. albicans cells were counted in three standardized fields under an inverted light microscope.…”
