The influence of thermal treatment on the properties of Co‐based magnetoelastic sensing elements

Abstract

PACS 75.50. Kj, 75.80.+q, 81.40.Vw Cobalt-based amorphous alloys (such us Co 68 Fe 4 B 13 Si 13.5 Mo 1.5 ) may be utilized in cores of magnetoelastic stress and force sensors. To achieve the proper functional parameters of core's material, the proper heat treatment should be applied. Paper presents results of the magnetoelastic investigation carried out on two ring samples. First sample was as quenched and second sample was annealed at temperature of 360 oC for 1 hour. The compressive stress was applied to the ring core perpendicularly to the flux density direction. The changes of the magnetic properties of both samples, as a function of compressive stresses, are presented. High stress sensitivity of both samples was observed in spite of a low magnetostriction of Co 68 Fe 4 B 13 Si 13.5 Mo 1.5 amorphous alloy.
