The influence of the bromine atom Cooper minimum on the photoelectron angular distributions and branching ratios of the four outermost bands of bromobenzene

Abstract: Angle resolved photoelectron spectra of the X̃(2)B1, Ã(2)A2, B̃(2)B2, and C̃(2)B1 states of bromobenzene have been recorded over the excitation range 20.5-94 eV using linearly polarized synchrotron radiation. The photoelectron anisotropy parameters and electronic branching ratios derived from these spectra have been compared to theoretical predictions obtained with the continuum multiple scattering approach. This comparison shows that ionization from the 8b2 orbital and, to a lesser extent, the 4b1 orbital is … Show more

“…The photoelectron spectra were recorded with a VG Scienta R4000 hemispherical electron energy analyzer mounted on the soft X-ray undulator-based PLÉIADES beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron radiation facility. Detailed descriptions of the beamline and station instrumentation have been reported previously, 64,65 so only a summary is given here.…”

“…The photoelectron anisotropy parameters, , characterizing the angular distribution, were obtained from the spectra recorded using parallel and perpendicularly polarized radiation, as described previously. 65 The electron spectra were corrected for the transmission efficiency of the analyzer as a function of kinetic energy. 67 The electron binding energy scale was calibrated by comparing a simulation, which included hot-band excitations, of theX 2 B 1 state photoelectron band 68 with the adiabatic ionization energy determined in the MATI experiment.…”

“…Experimental measurements were made using a VG Scienta R4000 hemispherical electron energy analyser mounted on the soft X-ray undulator-based PLÉIADES beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron radiation facility and followed procedures which we have previously reported. 36,37 Further details concerning our use of this beamline and endstation are provided as the supplementary material.…”
