The Influence of Rattan Fibre Addition to The Compressive Strength of Normal Concrete

Abstract: Concrete is high in compressive strength but low in tensile strength and very brittle material. In this study, rattan fibre used as an added material to help eliminate the brittle properties of normal concrete. Variations of fibre used consisted of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% by weight of cement with mixed planning using the American Concrete Institute method. The compressive strength and stress-strain tests were carried out when the concrete was 28 days old, with a design compressive strength of 25 MPa as many… Show more

“…Based on the results of research that has been carried out, the results obtained that rattan material with epoxy resin lamination has a compressive strength of 46.8MPa increased by 47.2% when compared to the compressive strength of rattan without lamination of 31.8MPa. The average impact strength of rattan test results before lamination with epoxy resin was 39 kJ/m 2 and after going through the lamination process increased by 64% to 64 kJ/m 2 (22).…”

“…Bamboo fiber is a natural fiber that can be used in concrete mixes and has been studied for many years to produce structural concrete. According to the studies of [8,[13][14][15][16], the bamboo fiber mixture from 1% to 2% of cement tested significantly improved the compressive strength of concrete. This is the basis for the author's interest in further research to find the optimal mixing ratio to achieve the optimal compressive strength.…”

“…Of course, from time to time, there will also be innovations to improve the quality of concrete. Innovation can be achieved by changing the basic composition of concrete or by adding composite components to the concrete mix [7][8][9].…”
