The Influence of Propellant Deterrent Concentration Profile on Combustion Performance

Abstract

This paper builds a theoretical model concerning the influence of deterrent concentration profiles on the combustion performance of spherical propellants and identifies the effects of deterrent diffusion depth (A) and combined strength of deterring (P) on propellant Γ~Ψ curves. In addition, a calculation method for quantitatively comparing the combustion progressivity of Γ~Ψ curves is presented. The results show that the percentage of the propellant burned corresponding to the maximum gas generation intensity Ψmax has a good linear relationship with both the parameters P and A, with a correlation coefficient of 0.986 and 0.982, respectively. The progressivity index is non-linearly associated with deterrent diffusion depth A, but linearly associated with the combined strength of deterring P.
