The influence of plasma dynamics on the growth of Sm0.55Nd0.45NiO3 solid solution during pulsed laser deposition

Abstract: Abstract. We report on the presence of an interesting cross-correlation among the deposition parameters which are usually overlooked in the usual empirical approach used by pulsed laser deposition growers. “…However a few works about the plume dynamics has been done [8][9][10]. Our findings join the previous results on the effect of the plume dynamics on the properties of the deposited film [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18].…”

“…Here, the expansion of fast species is fitted by a shock wave model, 36 described by the following equation: 37 where R is the propagation distance, ε 0 ≈ 1 is a constant related to both geometric and specific heat capacity, ρ 0 is the background gas density and E 0 is the plume energy. The fit shows dependence R ∝ t 0.41 and agrees well with a spherical shock wave model for all fast species expansion (Fig.…”

“…As is often pointed out, the estimated d f value is roughly an order of magnitude larger than the elastic mean free path [50][51][52]. Thus, to check the validity of the obtained d f values, a scattering cross-section () was estimated using the following relation, by assuming that the stopping distance is five-fold of the mean free The parameters for lateral expansion under 0.15 mJ irradiation are also listed in Table 3.…”
