The influence of P on glass forming ability and clusters in melt of FeSiBP amorphous soft-magnetic alloy

Abstract: Our experiment focused on investigating the P content dependences of the ability to form glass, the softmagnetic properties of, and the clusters in melting Fe 85-x Si 4 B 11 P x (x = 1-6), amorphous soft-magnetic alloys. The experimental results demonstrate that the alloys with proper P content (3-6 at.%) are prone to form a completely amorphous structure with a larger glass-forming ability (GFA); hence, amorphous alloys prepared by industry-grade raw materials can be well produced in an air atmosphere. The me… Show more

“…Total magnetic moment of Fe 82 Si 4 B 10 P 4 becomes stable at 130 μ B at 300 K. According to the relationship between B S and magnetic moment ( M ) involving supercell volume ( V S ) B S  =  μ 0 ( M / V S ), where μ 0 is vacuum permeability (4π × 10 −7 TmA −1 ), the calculated value of V S is 918.6 Å 3 and then that of B S is 1.65 T, which is slightly below experimental result of Fe 82 Si 4 B 11 P 3 (1.66 T) 32 . This relates to their different contents of B and P.…”
