The authors used 192 white clinically healthy Wistar rats of outbred breeding weighing 180-200 g to conduct experimental studies to determine whether structural and functional parameters of the kidneys were related to normal (control group 1 -intact rats) and physiological course load (group 2) with natural mineral waters (MW) with a high content of organic matter (Corg). The use of this type of MW was due to the fact that the substances grouped under the concept of Corg have regulatory properties and can affect the functional activity of the kidneys.
The study results showed that drinking by clinically healthy rats of the 2nd group of natural MWs with a high content of Corg compared with the control group changes the value of indicators of renal functional activity. In this case, the indicators of the structural organisation of the kidneys necessarily change. It allows us to state a close relationship between the indicators of functional and structural activity of the kidneys under physiological load conditions. This set of interrelated changes in the indicators of the organ's condition is defined in the literature as a structuralfunctional-metabolic continuum. Thus, the obtained results confirm the existence of such a phenomenon as one of the mechanisms of homeostasis maintenance.
