The Influence of Features of Aluminium Alloys 2024, 6061 and 7075 on the Properties of Glare-Type Composites / Wpływ Właściwości Stopów Aluminium 2024, 6061, 7075 Na Cechy Kompozytu Typu Glare

Abstract: The above paper presents the assumptions and results of the research whose aim was to determine the influence of 2024, 6061 and 7075 aluminum alloys on the final properties of GLARE-type composites. GLARE 3 2/1 type composites, made of two layers of the epoxy prepreg, reinforced with unidirectional glass fibers, arranged in the direction of 0°/90°, and two sheets of aluminum with a thickness of 0.4 mm, were investigated. Composites of various stacking configurations of alloy layers, made of one type of aluminu… Show more

“…Also, magnesium and titanium bases FMLs have also been studied. 13,[29][30][31] It was observed from the findings of published literature 3,32,33 that the grade of the aluminium alloys and their thickness along with their stacking configuration played an important role in the determining the mechanical properties and impact behaviour of GLARE and FMLs in general. Magnesium (Mg) was reported to be suitable for FML owing to its lower density, superior corrosion resistance and better specific perforation resistance compared to aluminium (Al) based FMLs.…”

“…According to the cited literature study, glass fiber produces good results in mechanical properties [14,15]. Glass fibers are used as a reinforcing agent for many polymeric products to form a very strong fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite material [16]. Multiple parts of American C-17 aircraft, Airbus A380 and aircraft fuselages were fabricated using ARALL and GLARE FMLs as a new structural material [17][18][19][20].…”

“…Wilk and Śliwa [16] investigated the effect of aluminum alloys 2024, 6061,in addition to 7075 on the ultimate characteristics of type of GLARE composite materials. Also, they discovered that GLARE-type composites constructed of 7075 alloy sheets had the best mechanistic characteristics when compared with composites made of 2024 and 6061 sheets.…”
