The Influence of Cell Cycle Regulation on Chemotherapy

Abstract: Cell cycle regulation is orchestrated by a complex network of interactions between proteins, enzymes, cytokines, and cell cycle signaling pathways, and is vital for cell proliferation, growth, and repair. The occurrence, development, and metastasis of tumors are closely related to the cell cycle. Cell cycle regulation can be synergistic with chemotherapy in two aspects: inhibition or promotion. The sensitivity of tumor cells to chemotherapeutic drugs can be improved with the cooperation of cell cycle regulatio… Show more

“…The target of cancer treatment is the cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis induction may be the most important goal in contemporary cancer treatment [15,16]. In order to further understand the reported antiproliferative action of janerin, cell cycle analysis was carried out.…”

“…Most standard therapies for prostate cancer primarily affect cancer cells, but CSCs undergo G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest and remain static, thus evading cell death from chemotherapeutic drugs [ 74 ] . Experimental data also suggest that CSCs are resistant to conventional chemotherapy and radiation and may be the cells responsible for disease recurrence and/or progression [ 75 ] .…”

“…The literatures have also showed involvement of cell cycle arrest in the inhibition of proliferation (Sun et al, 2021). The expression of CDK1, cyclin B1, and p21 was examined by western blotting.…”
