The Influence of Aerobic Fitness on Heart Rate Responses of Custody Assistant Recruits during Circuit Training Sessions

Abstract: This study captured heart rate (HR) responses of custody assistant (CA) recruits undertaking circuit training sessions. Data from 10 male and 12 female CA recruits were analyzed. Based on YMCA step test recovery HR, recruits were divided into higher fitness (HF; top 25%), lower fitness (LF; bottom 25%), and moderate fitness (MF; remaining recruits) groups. HR was measured during two circuit training sessions featuring calisthenics and running. HR zones were defined as: very light (<57% of age-predicted maxi… Show more

“…A univariate ANCOVA was used to determine whether there were significant differences between the groups. Within these groups, the sexes were combined [21,44,56]. Nevertheless, sex was used as a covariate as previous research has illustrated between-sex differences in the physical performance of law enforcement personnel [14,20,22,52,[60][61][62][63][64].…”

“…The YMCA step test was administered as a fitness assessment to measure aerobic capacity, and was administered via set procedures [54][55][56]. This test has been used to assess aerobic fitness in custody assistant recruits [56], highlighting its applicability for LEOs. The test was performed with approximately 12 inch (~31 cm) high bleacher seats used for the step on an indoor basketball court.…”

“…This circuit training is usually seen as a general physical and technical improvement or an evaluation of the previous period [10,12,13]. In the implementation, many athletes have plyometric training methods using a circuit before and after technical training [14] This study aimed to reveal the differences between physical and circuit training when they were done before and after technical training the increase cardiorespiratory and power abilities. By knowing these differences, the coach could determine the suitable circuit training model to obtain the training objectives as expected.…”

“…u kruhového tréninku). Není ojedinělé, že i v odborných publikacích panuje nesoulad v použití pojmů (Moreno et al, 2020;Osipov et al, 2019;Sobrero et al, 2019;Sperlich et al, 2017;Wilke et al, 2019), z označení tak není patrné, jaké prostředky, metody nebo cviky byly aplikovány.
