The Influence of 0.5% Tropicamide on Anterior Segment Parameters With CASIA2 in Emmetropic, Myopic, and Hyperopic Eyes

Abstract: Aim: To evaluate the effects of 0.5% tropicamide on anterior segment parameters with the CASIA2 imaging device in emmetropic, myopic, and hyperopic eyes. Methods: In this prospective study, a total of 125 subjects (34 emmetropic subjects, 57 myopic subjects, and 34 hyperopic subjects) at the Shanghai Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University were recruited from June 2021 to September 2021. The 0.5% tropicamide solution was used once every 5 min a total of 5 times for cycloplegia. The anterior segment parameters … Show more

“…Previous studies assessing LR have typically focused on the crystalline lens and often involved patients with implantable collamer lenses. 24,25 Consistent with the definition provided here, the LR involves measuring the vertical separation between the apex of the horizontal ICA and the apex of the anterior surface of the IOL (Figure 3). 17 A negative value means that the crystalline lens is above the iridocorneal plane.…”

“…This factor should be taken into consideration when interpreting the results, as the duration of diabetes can potentially influence diabetic changes and lead to varied responses to cycloplegics in diabetic patients. Stratifying a larger sample size based on age, refractive error [ 21 ], and diabetes duration may provide a more comprehensive analysis of changes.…”

“…Three clear images from OCT and UBM including one image from a very high frequency UBM called ArcScan Insight ® 100 (ArcScan Inc., Golden, CO, USA) were selected that depict the anterior and posterior chamber structures ( Figures 2 and 3 ). 19 , 20 Images with excessive labelling or zoom were excluded. Images selected were from open-access articles that allowed modification of images.…”
