The INDUS knee prosthesis - Prospective multicentric trial of a posteriorly stabilized high-flex design: 2 years follow-up

Abstract: Background:The anatomical and morphological differences and high-flexion daily activities in the Asian population have since ever prompted for development of customized knee replacement systems. INDUS knee system has advantages both of high-flex designs and is developed by keeping the anatomical variations of the native population in mind. The purpose of this study is to analyze the 2-year follow-up results using the INDUS prosthesis.Materials and Methods:Two hundred and ninety-seven knees in 276 patients were… Show more

“…Yet the field of high flexion knee prosthesis is still expanding and more studies are needed. Recently, early results of indigenously developed INDUS knee prosthesis were published with good short term results and improved range of knee motion 2122. However, both these studies were performed on heterogeneous group of patients and no subgroup analysis was made on the factors affecting the outcome.…”

“…However the authors in their two years follow-up have described 24 knees in their series, having a flexion of less than 100 degrees. The cause of such a flexion loss at early follow-up has not been discussed in their work 1. Did these patients have restricted movements in the pre operative period?…”
