“…In the present study, 13.65% of all patients (adults included) aged below 19 years with a mean age of 14.32 years (range 6-18 years) who had been referred for CBCT were included. This result concurred with the results of the studies by Hidalgo-Rivas et al 21 (13.7% of all patients, mean age 13.1 years, range 5-18 years), Ertaş et al 13 (mean age 13.1 years, range 6-18 years), and İşman et al 2 (mean age 13.42 years, range 2-17 years). Considering that patient characteristics change according to dentition type, it was predicted that CBCT indications also change.…”

“…According to the results of the study by Dobbyn et al, 19 the orthodontics department was found to be the second largest user of CBCT after the oral surgery department, and İşman et al 2 have mentioned that these results were consistent with theirs. Ertaş et al 13 (age range 6-73 years) observed that departments with most referrals to those with the least were oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial radiology, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, periodontology, and prosthetics. The difference between the results of the studies was thought to be due to differences in the age ranges of the samples.…”
