The improvement of images obtained with annular apertures

Abstract: A simple optical demonstration is given of a process, envisaged by Wild (1961), whereby the highly distorted image obtained with a thin annular aperture is converted into the normal image which would be observed through a uniform circular aperture. This investigation has been instigated by the possibility of using a very large ring of aerials for radio - astronomical observations.
