The Impact of Supply Chain Cooperative Relationship on Performance: A Knowledge Management Perspective

Abstract: There have been several studies focusing on the impact of supply chain cooperative relationship on performance, which is mainly based on transaction cost theory and the resource-based view theory. Our study deeply analyzes the inner mechanism between supply chain cooperative relationship and its performance from a perspective of knowledge management. We totally collected 136 valid samples in the questionnaire survey. Through the empirical study, we find: 1) Supply chain cooperative relationship has an obviousl… Show more

“…The enterprise's strategy should meet current market requirements and ensure success of the enterprise in the future. By reason that supply chain is composed of the relative upstream and downstream companies, the managers need not only to focus on a single company but also to consider cooperative relationship between them to promote supply chain performance totally (Tian, 2018). The process of globalization, together with the ever-growing competition, affect suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to integrate its activities through appropriate management of material flow and information flow (Sebastian Kot et al, 2014).…”

“…However, cooperative processes have been insufficiently addressed by studies. The literature show that supply chain cooperative relationships could be understood as having such dimensions as trust, communication, adaptation and cooperation (Fynes et al, 2004;Su et al, 2008;Tian, 2018). Trust as main element contributing to cooperative behaviour is proved (Hausman & Johnston, 2010;Lui et al, 2009;Martins et al, 2017).…”

“…Our paper studies the impact of the reciprocal behavior on performance in procurement contracts and thus is related to the stream of research on the supply‐chain cooperation. Numerous widely adopted supply‐chain management practices, such as just‐in‐time, knowledge sharing, and joint planning, require supply‐chain members to work closely with each other (Dong et al, 2001; Krause, 1999; Squire et al, 2009; Tian, 2018). Many researches prove that cooperative buyer–supplier relationships are beneficial to both the buyer and supplier in improved product quality, productivity, safety, and cost reductions especially in Japanese automotive companies (Awasthy & Hazra, 2019; Dyer, 1996; Langfield‐Smith & Greenwood, 1998).…”
